Senator Sheldon Whitehouse Speaks on Campus
On Monday, January 28, 2008 Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), gave the opening talk for the students "Focus the Nation" weeklong event on environmental issues. The Environmental Change Initiative also sponsored the event. Senator Whitehouse spoke about global climate change, his work on the issue in Washington, his recent trip to Greenland to see the impact of global warming, the need to do more to combat climate change including providing more research funding, as well as the leading role Brown is taking in this area. He urged Brown students to get involved in the work around these issues. There was an excellent turnout for this event, and the feedback was very positive.
