Recommendations and Findings - Spring 2008
Providence, RI
The College Hill Parking Task Force is a broad-based coalition of College Hill institutions, neighborhood groups, city departments, and RIPTA who have collaborated over the course of 2007 and early 2008 to find workable solutions to improve parking and traffic conditions in the College Hill neighborhood of Providence, RI.
As part of the approval process for Brown University's Institutional Master Plan, Brown was asked to work with College Hill organizations to study problems related to on-street parking and congestion and to make recommendations for improvement. Meeting over 15 times over the course of 18 months, the Task Force worked to identify problems, develop planning principles, document findings, and recommend solutions.
The Task Force has submitted its report, Findings and Recommendations, to the Providence City Plan Commission and other city departments in mid-May 2008 for their consideration and help in implementation. The full report is available to the public using the following link:

A major Task Force recommendation is to develop a comprehensive on-street parking plan identifying the proposed parking regulations on a street-by-street basis within the area of focus. Please see the following, detailed maps for the Existing On-Street Parking Conditions and the Proposed Parking Plan:
