Senator Jack Reed Visits Brown
On August 20, 2007, Senator Jack Reed (D-RI) came to Brown for a tour of the Sidney Frank Life Sciences Building. The tour was led by Alpert Medical School Dean, Eli Adashi, and Vice President for Research, Clyde Briant. Dr. John Donoghue, showed the Senator the MRI facility and described work to develop brain implants that help paralyzed patients use their thoughts to control computers and other devices. He also toured Dr. Trisha Serio’s lab, which focuses on prion proteins. Finally, Dr. Kim Boekelheide, who directs the Brown Superfund Basic Research Program, spoke to the Senators about his work and the Center for Environmental Health and Technology.
