Vice President
Michael E. Chapman assumed the job of Vice President for Public Affairs and University Relations at Brown University on July 1, 2004.
Prior to coming to Brown, Chapman was Director of Communications and Public Affairs at New York University Medical Center. He also has served as Director of Communications for the Peace Corps at the agency's headquarters in Washington, D.C., as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Legislative Affairs at the U.S. Department of State, Deputy Foreign Policy Director of the 1992 Clinton/Gore Presidential Campaign, and as a Legislative Assistant and speechwriter for former U.S. Rep. Dave McCurdy.
Chapman received his B.A. in political science and history from the University of Oklahoma in 1983, his M.A. in Soviet and East European studies from the University of Kansas in 1987, and his law degree from Georgetown University in 1997.
