...I want to learn more about Emergency Preparedness at Brown?
The Office of Environmental Health and Safety Department website currently hosts all information related to emergency preparedness at the University. Community members can find information about appropriate emergency contacts and protocols for a variety of emergency situations to include emergency action (evacuation) procedures, bomb threats, severe weather conditions, etc.

....I want to know the difference between a Campus Police Officer and a Security Officer
First, let us indentify the differences in the uniforms. Campus Police Officers wear the navy blue uniforms(shirt & pants), with red stripping on the pants. Security Officers wear a white shirt, with navy blue pants with light blue stripping. Campus Police Officers constitute our sworn, and armed personnel. Police Officers are responsible for patrolling the campus on foot, and bicycle to protect life and property, enforcing rules and regulations of the University. Campus Police will also patrol by police car and have the additional legal authority to make an arrest for violations of state law. Security Officers patrol campus by foot, to include buildings, and have the authority enforce University rules and regulations.

...I want to know if DPS Officers receive cultural diversity training?
DPS Officers receive numerous hours of annual training in a variety of areas. The department works in conjunction with the Office of Institutional Diversity to offer a comprehensive diversity awareness development training program that focuses on diversity at Brown, biased-based policing, cross-cultural communication, community outreach and other critical topics as well. DPS will often invite various university administrators, as well as professionals from community and state agencies to facilitate workshops.For more information visit DPS Diversity Awareness Development Program.
