This issue of The Teaching Exchange brings together articles on two major topics: grade inflation and application of academic technology. Contributions by University Registrar Michael Pesta and Director of Institutional Research and Records Katherine Lewis provide context for a discussion of grade inflation at Brown. Prof. Peter Heywood discusses course goals and grading rubrics in an individual course over time. David Reville, Director of the Scholarly Technology Group, discusses the academic uses of digital multimedia and Roger Blumberg, Department of Computer Science, considers the pedagogical value of instructional technology. We hope these articles will inspire discussion and debate among colleagues across campus and welcome contributions on these issues from faculty and graduate students in future issues of the Teaching Exchange.
