Teaching to Variation in Learning Workshop

How does YOUR learning style influence HOW you teach and, as a result, how your students LEARN? This Interactive Web Workshop has been developed to help faculty and graduate students gain a greater sensitivity to and understanding of the central role of cognition in student learning.

Each of us acquires "data" in a unique way through the five senses. How we learn (i.e. retain and retrieve) that data is affected by five (5) basic cognitive functions. This "workshop" is designed to give you a chance to see how YOU learn through a series of exercises involving those five cognitive functions developed by Prof. Brian Hayden (Psychology).

The resulting profile of how you learn is linked to feedback prepared by Prof. Hayden on the ways in which your pedagogical strategies might affect how your students learn. The exercises are linked to Teaching to Variation in Learning, the Sheridan Center Handbook written by Prof. Hayden.
