Best of Brown Series
The President's Staff Advisory Committee is pleased to introduce Best of Brown - a series of events that will inform, entertain, and engage the University community by highlighting all things uniquely Brown. Please check back for information on upcoming events.

Summer 2009: John Hay Library
SAC presented our Summer Best of Brown event when we showcased some of the treasures of the John Hay Library on Wednesday, August 26, 2009. This tour was of the Anne S. K. Brown Military Collection with its 6,000 miniature toy soldiers, the Hoffman Napoleon Collection which includes the death mask of the emperor, and the McLellan Lincoln Collection devoted to the 16th President of the United States. Spring 2009: Plant Environmental Center
SAC presented our next Best of Brown event when we showcased The Plant Environmental Center on May 15, 2009. They provided tours to show off their collection of beautiful and unusual plants, including many plant families and a diverse collection of Cycads, Orchids, Aroids, and many plants from the Amazon region.
Winter 2009: Ladd Observatory
Many attended this "Best of Brown" event to star gaze at the Ladd Observatory on January 29, 2009. to experience the "Crescent Moon is Closest to Venus". Several stations were set up around the observatory, including the Main telescope, several roof-top telescopes, also the projection room with "Starry Night" software was available.

A large number of coats were donated to support AIDS Care Ocean State (ACOS).
Fall 2008: Spooky Skate
SAC held its second family skate event on Sunday, October 26, 2008, from 2-4 at Meehan Auditorium. There was a "safe skate" area for the little ones and refreshments for all. In the spirit of the season, participants were invited to wear costumes.
SAC sends a warm "Thank You!" to the Office of the President for their support.

Summer 2008: August 27th Garden Party
This "Best of Brown" event marked the President's Staff Advisory Committee's 10th anniversary. The Garden Party was held August 27, 2008 on the beautiful grounds of the historic Nightingale-Brown House located at 357 Benefit Street. There were tours, refreshments and a reception honoring Bert Gordon, founding SAC member and long-term advisor.

Spring 2008: Sounds of Spring
Our inaugural event, Sounds of Spring, was an organ concert on March 27, 2008. This brown-bag lunch concert which featured Geoffrey Greene from Computing & Information Services, was held in Sayles Hall.
