3. HAITI RELIEF EFFORTS AT BROWN
The Brown Haiti Crisis Response Committee will help you coordinate your relief efforts. Students and student groups interested in planning events or relief projects are strongly encouraged to contact the Crisis Response Committee for the following reasons:
Reduces redundancy and event overlap - the committee is aware of other student relief efforts and therefore can help you avoid event conflicts, help mediate between conflicting events, inform you of similar efforts with which you can collaborate.
Connections to Providence - the committee is aware of relief efforts in greater Providence. Some Providence organizations are interested in assisting student efforts (i.e. t-shirt donations) and are able to connect you.
Web support/Newsletter Advertising - the committee helps manage Brown's Haiti Response website and will advertise your event. They are also in the process of creating a bi-weekly newsletter where they will advertise upcoming relief events.
Tracking Fundraising - the Committee hopes to track all of the money raised by Brown including that raised by student groups. Knowing about your efforts will allow them to accurately report Brown's collective contribution to Haiti relief.
E-mail haitiresponse AT BROWN with your plans and to report the amount of money your event has raised. Unity is essential in this relief effort. This committee's main goal is to unify student groups in their response to the crisis in Haiti. For more information on how the University is responding click HERE.
