June 21 (Washington, D.C.) - Women's Leadership Council member Shelley Fidler '68, P'09 hosted 45 Brown women for a reception. Featuring three Brown alumnae sharing their professional experiences within the field of law. Presenters included Nancy L. Buc '65, Trustee Emerita and Partner, Buc & Beardsley, LLP; Beverly Burke '73, P'07, Vice President and General Counsel, Washington Gas; and Laurie Robinson '68, Assistant Attorney General, U.S. Office of Justice Programs.
January 12 (New York City) - Women's Leadership Council Co-Chair Nancy Neff ’76, P’06, P'14 hosted the Women's Launch Pad Winter gathering and networking reception at the Hudson Hotel in New York City. Council member and Women's Launch Pad mentor Chandra Metzler '95 served as the keynote speaker to an audience of more than 50 current and former Women's Launch Pad participants. The event provided a great opportunity to make new connections, share mentoring experiences, and see old friends.

November 11 (Boston, MA)— Amy Abrams ’75 hosted 45 women from the Boston area to hear a panel discussion on entrepreneurship. Alumnae panelists included Chef and Owner of Rialto, Jody Adams ’80; Founding CEO, Z Corporation, Marina Hatsopoulos ’87; and Founder and Managing Partner, Bracebridge Capital, L.L.C., Nancy G. Zimmerman ’85.
October 20-21 (Providence, RI) - Women's Launch Pad Kick-Off and Women's Leadership Council Annual Meeting in Providence, RI
September 27 (Washington, D.C.) - Women's Launch Pad mentor Hannah Seligson '04 generously hosted 30 Brown women at her home for a "Brown Women in Media" event. Alumnae panelists included Women's Leadership Council member and Editor of the Chronicle of Philanthropy Stacy Palmer '82; host and published author and journalist Hannah Seligson '04; and bestselling author and journalist Judith Warner '87.
May 3 (Providence, RI) — The Women's Leadership Council officially welcomed 15 new members with an orientation held on campus. Executive Vice President of Finance and Administration Beppie Huidekoper spoke at the Council's luncheon about Brown’s fiscal health and what measures the University is taking to ensure long-term financial stability.
2009 Events
December 8 (Providence, RI) – For the second year in a row, Women's Leadership Council member Marsy Mittlemann P’00, P’04 graciously opened her home to current Women's Launch Pad mentees. Dessert, mingling and a break from studying was enjoyed by 20 young women and fellow Women's Launch Pad mentors.
December 3 (New York City) – Women's Leadership Council members Marcia Dunn ’82 and Andrea Terzi Baum ’83, P'15 hosted a breakfast gathering in Marcia’s home featuring Dean of the College Katherine Bergeron. With more than 20 women in attendance, Dean Bergeron shared news from the University, including recent enhancements to the University’s Undergraduate Advising program.
October 15 (Providence, RI) – Women's Leadership Council Annual Meeting held on campus. Featured speakers included Susan Thurmond and Mary Lou Jackson from the Council for Women of Boston College and Brown University President Ruth J. Simmons. Council members enjoyed cocktails and dinner with guest speaker Dean of Admissions Jim Miller.
October 8 (Washington, D.C.) - Women's Leadership Council members Genine Fidler ’77, P’04, P’12 and Shelley Fidler ’68, P’09 hosted a networking reception featuring Brown alumnae speaking about their professional experiences. Women's Leadership Council member Jennifer Williams Murphy ’86 and former Women's Launch Pad mentee Sophie Waskow ’07 were the guest speakers to a multi-generational audience of more than 100 women.
October 2 (Pacific Palisades, CA) — Women's Leadership Council members Lauren Corrao ’83, P'16 and Natalie Fair ’86, P'15 hosted an event for Brown alumni and parents featuring current Brown parent Ann Sweeney P’12, President of Disney-ABC Television Group. More than 20 people attended.
