Rhode Island Quahog Classic
The Quahog Classic was established in the summer of 2008 in an effort to unite intercollegiate intramural sports programs across Rhode Island. Currently the Quahog Classic consists of five one-day events where each school's top team(s) in that respective sport compete to determine a state champion. Points are tallied and at the end of each Quahog Classic one school will stand out among the rest and be awarded the Quahog Cup.
The purpose of the Quahog Classic is to:
- Promote recreational sports on our college campuses
- Provide extramural competition and social interaction between the schools
- Cultivate the habits of good sportsmanship while providing opportunities for top-level competition
- Facilitate such purposes in an efficient and manageable format

Rules
The Quahog Classic is open any college or university in the State of Rhode and Providence Plantations. Participating schools must agree to abide by the constitution and pay all associated fees & costs not covered by sponsorship. Schools looking to join the Quahog Classic may do so upon majority vote be the committee comprised of existing members. Additions may only be voted upon between Classics (May-August).
Teams invited to our events are typically the championship team from their highest division in their respective league. When the Quahog Classic events preceed a school's championship contest, the champion from the previous season is an acceptable substitute. Teams may pick up additional players to fill their roster in the event that original members are unavailable or no longer have full-time student status. It is up to each school's intramural sports coordinator to ensure this allowance is not abused. The Quahog Classic is intended to reward champion teams and their success, not to build a new "all-star" team.
Participants and teams must meet the criteria below:
- All participants must be current, full-time graduate or undergraduate students at their host school.
- Students with professional status in the respective sport are ineligble to participate at any time.
- Likewise, varsity athletes in the respective sport may not participate in the same academic year.
- Teams may not have more than 2 students from club sport teams of the respective sport.
