The new website is here! Most of the main pages from the old website are now featured as updated versions on the new website. However, there are still pages and links to be brought over, so until I finish up the rest of the minor work, I will temporarily keep the old website up. Note that you can only access pages on the old website via the red links on the left-hand side of the old home page below the merchandise box. Work on the new site should be completely finalized within the month. Hope you enjoy! Oh, and there are also pictures from Purple Valley this year now on the site.

Brown University and the Brownian Motion community have recently stomached a sad, distressing event. BMO alum, Mike Franz '02, suffered a brain aneurysm last month while working in South Africa. He has been in a coma since the incident occurred, and the prospects for his recovery are very slim. Franz is a beloved member of our community and a friend and role model to everyone he played with at Brown and to everyone who has been a part of the team since Franz graduated. Some of us have had the opportunity to play with Franz and have known him for years, while others have stayed with him in San Francisco and only knew him as that big friendly alum who never stopped giving back to the team and the program. Franz is a leading member of the 2000 National Championship team, a centerpiece of the Alumni network, and an irreplaceable figure for the program. Our thoughts and prayers are with Franz and his loved ones. Messages can be sent to his girlfriend Bettina, who is in South Africa with him, at bettina_dempsey@yahoo.com.

Huck-a-Hunk-O'-Burnin'-Pumpkin was quite the success. Thanks especially to Drew Raines '09 for putting together a great tournament, to the Brown alumni for coming out and having fun, to the parents for showing their support and cheering us on, and to all the other fans for watching us in the cold and rooting us on. Despite being the coldest weekend in November thus far, the skies were clear and the play was at a high level. Brownian Motion took their 2-0 pool play start to the showcase game against Harvard, and behind the support of a great showing of fans, won 13-7. On Sunday, BMo strung off wins against Boston University and Cornell to enter the finals against Dartmouth, where they took the title with a 15-10 win. The fall was fun, and the spring should be even better. Enjoy the Thanksgiving weekend!

Halloween has just passed, which can only mean Huck-a-Hunk-O'-Burnin'-Pumpkin is right around the corner. In fact, our fall home tournament is this weekend! Check here for tournament information, including game times and the bracket set-up. The showcase game will be Saturday at 3:30pm versus Harvard University at Marvel Field on the Brown University campus. Marvel Field is located across the street from the Brown Stadium, where the football team plays its home games, and right next to the Jewish Community Center on Elmgrove Avenue. All other games will be at fields in Portsmouth, RI, which you can get directions to by taking a look at this map. The weather forecast for the weekend shows partly sunny skies both days with the temperature in the 30s and low 40s. Hope to see you all out there!

Fall league is progressing nicely as the weather starts to become colder and rainier. Remember to hand in team dues to your fall league captain. Also, the Yale Cup pictures from the spring are finally all uploaded to the site. Lastly, Ken Pettis '78 sent us a really tight picture, which is believed to be the first team photo of a Brown ultimate team. You can find it as part of the alumni section.

Fall league started last week with just about 90 participants spread amongst six teams. Games will continue during the afternoons on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays for the next few weeks. Fall league is leading up to our home tournament, Huck-a-Hunk-O'-Burnin'-Pumpkin, which is tenatively scheduled for the first weekend in November, the 4th and 5th. This weekend, a collection of A-teamers, B-teamers, and freshmen competed in the Coffee Cup at Yale and finished third out of sixteen teams. If you have yet to come out to an ultimate practice, but are interested or have questions, you can email the captains through the info/contact link in the header.

Fall practices have begun! The newcomers look impressive and the returnees appear strong. Fall league seems primed for an exciting, enjoyable, and educational experience. If you still want in, there will be open-invitation practice next Tuesday from 4-7pm at Marvel and next Wednesday from 3-5:30pm at Marvel. Need directions? Check them out here. Catch you on the field.

Everyone is back at Brown and ready for another great year of ultimate. There were few updates over the summer due to a transition in the management of the website, but that transition is now complete and Jeff Ericson '09 will take over for Michael Pozar '05 GS '06. It is an exciting time for Brown ultimate, as the program gears up to welcome an abundance of new freshmen into the mix, begin fall league, and attend tournaments throughout the fall. Information regarding practice times should be sent out via email shortly. In the next few weeks, expect a few changes to the website, including updates of older information and new pictures from the 2006 season. It is nice to be back and more updates will be forthcoming.
