Last week B-Mo kicked off the spring season with a bang traveling to Atlanta, GA for a rigorous winter training session culminating in the competitive debut of this year's team at Florida Warm-Up.
B-Mo went undefeated on Saturday beating Miami, USF, UF-B, and Iowa but were faced with two tough losses Sunday morning against UNC-W and Georgia which was enough to put them behind Iowa in their pool and keep them out of the play-in game. Brown finished up with a record of 5-2.
It's looking like a promising season. |

The last 2 newsletters of the year are up!
Here's the one recapping Yale Cup & Sectionals, and the one recapping Regionals. |

| Friday, May 23, 2008 |
It's been awhile since the last post, but here's the short of it: B-Mo beat Williams for the first time this season to advance to the Final Four of the New England Regionals, but then lost to Dartmouth and UMass. B-Mo finished 5th and P-Funk upset MIT, 17-15, to finish 11th in the region.
Dartmouth and Harvard represented New England admirably. Both finished ahead of seed in pool play, and Harvard even won their pre-quarters game to finish in the top 8.
The UPA finals was a rematch of the title game from 2006: Florida vs. Wisconsin. The Hodags of Wisconsin avenged their loss from two years ago (and their loss to Florida at Centex) to win 15-9 and defend their national title from last year. Congrats Wisco! Check out more information here. Also, the Callahan Award went to Joe Kershner from Arizona.

Regionals is this upcoming weekend! Brown enters as the 3rd seed and Brown-B enters as the 16th seed. Both teams start play at 9 on Saturday morning, with Brown-B starting out against top-seeded Harvard. If the seeding holds, Brown would face Williams in the second round, a rematch of last year's Regionals championship game.
The bracket is up here on the UPA website. Also, click here for directions to the fields.
Hope to see you all out there! We're going to need all the support we can get! |

B-Mo and P-Funk both headed to Regionals!
Congratulations to Brown's B-team, P-Funk! They just qualified for Regionals with a 15-4 win over WPI in a do-or-die game. Earlier in the day, they slugged it out for hard-fought wins against Conn College and UConn. This will be their first trip to Regionals since 2005.
B-Mo capped off their weekend with a win over Wesleyan for the sectional championship. All the results from this weekend can be found on the UPA website tournament page. The other team to qualify was URI, their first-ever bid to Regionals.
Special thanks this weekened to Andy's parents who brought us tons of Gatorade, snacks, and bagels to keep us going. To all the parents and fans who have watched us play this year and have been unbelievably supportive and caring, thanks so much!! We really really appreciate everything you do for us!
Three weeks to Regionals. Up and up! Hope to see everyone out there! |

This weekend is UPA Sectionals at the University of Rhode Island. The schedule on the UPA website is up. As of right now, Brown has 4 pool play games on Saturday starting at 10:35.
The Centex newsletter is up now too! It's worth looking at it just for the 'stache pictures. |

We are pleased to announce that Brown Ultimate has officially established an endowment with the university in the name of Mike Franz!! This is an incredible accomplishment and we owe it all to your support and generosity - alumni, family, and friends! Thank you so much! With that said, we are setting a goal of $150,000 for the Mike Franz Memorial Fund by this summer to ensure the endowment starts off on a great first foot.
Yale Cup is this weekend! The schedule on the UPA website is up. As of right now, Brown will have 4 pool play games on Saturday and 4 bracket games on Sunday. Due to the weather, starting times have been pushed back to noon on Saturday, and the website will be updated if further adjustments are made. Brown was scheduled to play Wesleyan first at 9, followed by Vermont at 10:45, Williams at 12:30, and Dartmouth at 4 after a bye. Play on Sunday starts at 8:45.
The weather for this weekend calls for cooler temperatures and wetness, so it should be a typical New England tourney. Hope to see you out there!
Also, photo albums from the Stanford Invite and from Huck-a-Hunk this year are officially up! If you have photos from any tournaments, feel free to send them here so they can get up on the website. Thanks to Rick LeBeau and Kyle Cackett '11 for taking pictures at the Stanford Invite, and thanks to Melissa Olson for taking picutures at Huck-a-Hunk. |

Brown rebounded from a tough Stanford Invite to post a 4-4 record at Centex this past weekend. Brown beat #6 British Columbia to begin the tournament on Saturday and then started Sunday with a win over #4 North Carolina State. Saturday was a grueling 10 hour day, with 5 straight games in the heat. Sunday brought more New England style weather, with the temperature in the 50s and wind.
Three games over the weekend went to universe point: a win against UC-Santa Barbara, a loss to Texas, and a loss to Carleton.
Coincidentally, the 3 games that went to universe point were against the 3 teams Brown also faced at the Stanford Invite. All 3 results this time around were improvements too.
Thanks so much to the friends and family that came out to watch us this weekend! It was great to have you cheering us on and bringing us snacks and drinks to keep our bodies going. Next up is Yale Cup in a week and a half which we'll be ramping up for when we get back from break. |

The results from Stanford are up and a newsletter will be up very soon! Also, there will be pictures put up from Stanford and hopefully from Centex early next week.
B-Mo would like to thank all the alumni, family members, and friends who housed us at Stanford, fed us, came out to the games, supported us, and made the weekend a great one! It was so nice having such a big dinner all together on Saturday night. We couldn't ask for a better B-Mo community! |
