Class Descriptions

*All fitness levels welcome. Work at your own pace in any class.*

Group Fitness Pass holders can participate in unlimited classes listed below with group fitness wristband issued by the Welcome Center in Nelson Fitness Center. Wristbands are required for entry into class; no wristband=no participation.

TRX® - NEW! -TRX® Suspension Training is a new and exciting total body workout using bodyweight and suspension straps. Work through a variety of exercises to develop total body strength, balance, flexibility, and joint stability. Classes meet in Nelson Fitness Center, second floor, Garonzik Fitness Area.

Cardio Blast - NEW! - Tighten and tone using in an interval-style workout. Use a variety of equipment, weights, and your own body weight to improve overall strength.

Totally Toned - NEW! - Get your blood pumpin & your heart rate up! Challenge your cardiovascular endurance and test coordination through exciting cardio exercises. Whether it is jumping rope or ladders, you'll be sweating in no time.

Body Sculpt - Body Sculpt is designed to shape and tone the body without building muscular size or bulk. This sculpting class will help retain lean muscle tissue, boost metabolism, and perfectly tone large muscle groups.

Bootcamp - A high-intensity cardio and strength conditioning class incorporating steps, weights, jump ropes, medicine balls and much more to train every part of your body! Tighten & tone while getting an invigorating cardiovascular workout.
**Bootcamp on Saturdays has been moved to 10:00 AM (effective Saturday, November 3)

Cardio Kick - Blend your hidden strength with the ancient art of self-defense, dance, and boxing techniques, while engaging in a challenging cardio kickboxing style workout! The movements are fun and easy to follow - no complicated choreography involved. Check it out and kick your fitness up a notch!

Zumba® - Are you ready to party yourself into shape? That's exactly what the Zumba movement is all about. It's an exhilarating, effective, easy-to-follow, Latin-inspired, calorie-burning dance fitness-party that's moving millions of people toward joy and health.

Cycling - Cycle your way to the top in an exhilarating group setting. Experience challenging terrain through jumps, hills, and climbs. Indoor cycling provides the ultimate challenge for cardiovascular fitness and overall strength.

Pilates - Build a longer, leaner physique with Pilates mat work. The Pilates method helps to lengthen and strengthen muscles and balance the musculoskeletal system. The exercises focus on core strength, torso stability, and mobility of the limbs. Pilates practice will improve your posture, body awareness, strength, flexibility, and balance.

Yoga - Acquire flexibility and a sense of well being through classical yoga postures. Improve your concentration and enjoy mental peace and tranquility through relaxation technique. Breathe better to renew energy and vitality.

Vinyasa Yoga - This class draws from the traditional movements of Ashtanga yoga techniques and meditation style. This yoga style allows creativity and freedom of the mind and body. In addition to improving flexibility, the class will challenge your cardiovascular endurance and aerobic capacity.

Shimmy Fit - NEW! - Don't have a lot of time? No problem! Shimmy Express is a belly dance based workout that gives everything you need in 45 minutes! The focus of Shimmy Express alternates each class: one class of the week will be fast-paced and help you burn fat, the other will focus on toning and giving you a strong body! This class uses nothing more than the magic of belly dance to get you fit. Class will be packed with fun dance combinations and will give you tons of new moves. Belly dance is known for working the entire body, so join Shimmy Express to dance, let loose, and workout.

Introductory Aqua Exercise Class - Free to Members! (This Semester Only)
You will be required to obtain an aqua exercise wristband from the Front Desk before each class.

Aqua Circuit Training - An intense, full-body workout combining resistance training with aerobic exercise! Shallow water circuit training will involve a series of resistance stations, using water weights and body-weight exercises like push-ups and lunges, moving in and out of the water, more cardio than deep water training. No impact, no lifting!

AfroAqua - Get your heart pumping as we combine Mande dance, Hip Hop, and other styles of urban African dances in the water! We will work different muscle groups as we move across styles and tempos.

Deepwater Running - Designed for runners who wish to put less stress on their legs and joints, but want continue a hard cardio workout regimen. Classes will include pacing exercises, sprints, obstacle exercises, and ladder workouts. To make it even better, all of this will be set to the best of the best of pump-up music! Participants will wear flotation belts.

AquaDance - Intense cardiovascular workout will target multiple body areas in a fun and creative way as we explore many dance styles. This class is ideal for those craving a heightened fitness level and floor-based dance moves to a great soundtrack. You'll have so much fun you'll forget what a workout you're getting!

AfroAqua - Deep Water - For those looking for more of a challenge in the water and in Afro dance, get your heart pumping as we combine Mande dance, Hip Hop, and other styles of urban African dances in the deep water! You will wear a flotation belt in deep water as we kick, jump, and dance to some exciting African beats!

Aqua Circuit Training - Deep Water - An intense, full-body workout combining resistance training with aerobic exercise! Deep water circuit training consists of additional water treading with the use of water noodles and flotation belts. A fun, fast paced workout you won't want to miss!
