OMAC Info

The Olney-Margolies Athletic Center (OMAC) [86,000 sq ft] was dedicated in 1981 and houses offices, locker and shower rooms, training support facilities, a 200-meter indoor track,three basketball courts and a volleyball court. Free weight, cybex and cardiovascular equipment can also be found within the OMAC.

What we offer...6 Lane Running Track, 3 Basketball Courts, Volleyball Court, Badminton Courts, Free Weight Room, Cardio & Cybex Equipment Area, Aerobic/Dance Studio, Men's & Women's Locker Rooms & Showers.

Policies and Procedures

FACILITY CARD ACCESS POLICY

All Brown / RISD students, faculty/staff and recreation members must show a valid ID card, athletic pass or guest pass to gain access to the athletic center. Anyone that cannot show a valid ID card will not be allowed to enter the athletic center. Anyone caught trying to access the athletic center through unauthorized entry doors may have their privileges revoked.

ATHLETIC CENTER HOURS AND SCHEDULES

Athletic Center hours are subject to cancellation or change. Varsity Athletics has priority in scheduling in all athletic facilities. All athletic center hours are subject to change due to athletic practices and/or events. Please consult the web site (www.brown.edu/Recsports) for up to date schedules & information.

EQUIPMENT USE

All recreation equipment must be signed out and returned by a card holding member. Members will be charged for lost or damaged equipment.

GUEST POLICY

Brown affiliated guest passes are $7/day per person. Non-Brown affiliated guest passes are $10/day per person. Guest passes may be purchased at the Pizzitola Sports Center Ticket Office between the hours of 10am-4pm Monday - Friday OR they may be purchased at the athletic center front desk (credit card payment only) during athletic center operational hours.

LOCKERS & LOCKER ROOMS

General public locker rooms are available on the entrance level of the athletic center. Lockers are DAY USE Lockers only. Note: The athletic department staff reserves the right to cut locks left on lockers overnight. The Department of Athletics is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.

LOST & FOUND POLICY

Lost and Found items can be claimed and/or turned in at the athletic center office in room 101. All items will be held in the athletic center office for 1 week. After the 1-week period all items are sent to Brown Public Safety.

VANDALISM

Anyone caught vandalizing the athletic center will be removed immediately and Brown Public Safety will be notified.

INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR

Any athletic center patron exhibiting abusive behavior or language will be asked to leave the athletic center immediately. If the patron refuses to leave the athletic center, then Brown Public Safety will be called to remove the patron. The athletic department staff reserves the right to revoke privileges for misuse of the athletic center and/or regulations. This includes, but is not limited to verbal abuse, harassment and fighting.

PROPER ATTIRE

All athletic center patrons must wear the proper attire when in the athletic center. Shirts, shorts, sweats and shoes must be worn at all times. Open toed shoes or sandals are not allowed in fitness / weight room areas.

INLINE SKATES, BIKES, SKATEBOARDS

Inline skates or skateboards are not allowed inside the athletic center or on athletic center front steps. Bicycles may not be brought inside the athletic center, a bicycle rack is provided in front of the athletic center for patrons to lock their bicycles.

PETS

Pets are not allowed in the athletic center unless they are aiding a person with a disability.

TOBACCO PRODUCTS & ALCOHOL

Tobacco products or alcohol of any kind are not allowed in the athletic center. Patrons suspected to be under the influence of alcohol will be asked to leave the athletic center immediately.

PERSONAL TRAINERS

Personal trainers other than the Physical Education trainers are prohibited.

ASSUMPTION OF RISK

Recreation members and guests assume all risks when using the athletic center.

ATHLETIC CENTER AGE REQUIREMENT

No one under the age of 12 will be allowed to enter the athletic center unless supervised by a valid card holding adult member. Children must be supervised at all times.
