Meet Our Instructors
Karen Booth
Karen Booth has taught the practice of Hatha yoga for over 10 years, as a certified yoga teacher and personal trainer. Karen has taught yoga to different populations including, athletes, seniors,teens, children and prenatal women. Karen teaches her students the skills to relax, breath and move their bodies correctly to find balance and well-being through yoga. Yoga has inspired Karen beyond what she thought possible, she is convinced "the possibilities are endless."

Jodi Boland
Jodi Boland has always had a passion for exercise. Having always been an outdoor bike rider since the 90's, Jodi decided to move indoor for the winter several years ago. As music is a passion as well, the two matched very well. Jodi loves to program her cycling music so that it delivers an excellent flow to the routine/ride. Jodi loves providing a challenging class that is achievable for all levels. "I encourage everyone to give it a try. The great thing about cycling is all level can challenge themselves while listening to music. It is a great work out!

Tanya Sheehan
Tanya Sheehan joined the Brown PE faculty in 2000, when she first taught the hip-hop dance class. Since then she has directed the intensive summer dance program at Phillips Academy Andover and has taught hip-hop at Columbia University and Dartmouth College. Although a classically trained dancer, Tanya loves the rhythm and energy of popular dance styles like hip-hop, street jazz, and jazz funk. In her spare time, she continues to take professional dance classes in New York City, and is employed as an assistant professor of art history at Rutgers University!

Amy Pasternack
Amy Pasternack is a native of Clifton, NJ. She obtained her Bachelors Degree from the University of Delaware in 2003. After interning in the Athletic Department at Brown University during 2003-2004, she returned back to the department full time in September. After becoming an avid spinner in 2007, she became certified to teach in January.
Amanda Brown
Amanda has been teaching Pilates for the past few years and in her 8 years of practice she has used Pilates as a foundation for many other activities including soccer, Tango, and Belly dance. She also teaches therapeutic exercise for seniors, coaches soccer and works as a Personal Trainer.

Lori Mars
Lori
teaches a variety of Group Fitness classes including: Hi/Lo Cardio, Step, Interval training using the Resist-a-Ball, weight, etc..., Cycle and her favorite - Pilates! She is certified in Power Pilates Mat and Reformer, Cadillac, Chair - including Spine Corrector and Barrel, all of which she practices at the nearby Providence Pilates Center. She applies the principles of Pilates to all movement and exercise - this discipline has improved her Core/and fitness level and she is eager to share this with others and turn them on to forming this lifelong healthy habit!
Sheryl Marsland
Sheryl Marsland, is a Personal Trainer & Fitness Specialist with over 24 years of experience. She has been a successful bodybuilder and won Miss Rhode Island , Miss Gold's Classic and Miss Massachusetts first place and overall and also placed first in “The American Gladiators” show. Knowledgeable in training individuals in the following areas: Toning, Sculpting, Strength Training, Yoga for flexibility, Diet & Nutrition information, Sports Specific Training, and has worked with Rehabilitating clients post physical trauma. Helping to achieve her clients' goals is her only objective. Dedication, Discipline, and Determination is what she teaches her clients along with getting to know their own bodies and what they need. Sheryl takes a personal interest in each and every one of her clients and tailors a program to fit into their specific lifestyle. Their success is a reflection of her success.
