13 Brown Sailors Named to the 2016-2017 ICSA All-Academic Team, Three Named to the All-American Team

A huge congrats to our 13 sailors from the classes of 2017 and 2018 that were named to the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) 2016-17 All-Academic Sailing Team:

Brown Sailing was recognized with the second most All-Academic Team selections of any team in college sailing, finishing behind the U.S. Naval Academy this year. The All-Academic Sailing Team recognizes collegiate sailors who have achieved excellence in national and inter-conference competition as well as excelling at the highest academic level for the 2016-17 academic year. The criteria for the honorees are that he or she must be a Junior or Senior, have at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale, and be a starter or key reserve in at least seven university sponsored regattas.

Three Brown Sailors Named to the 2016-2017 ICSA All-American Team

Megan Grapengeter-Rudnick '17 and Lindsey Baab '18 were named Women's All-American Skippers, and Haley Carter '17 was named an Honorable-Mention All-American Crew for the 2016-2017 season.

Megan is one of three Brown sailors to be named a four time selection to the ICSA All-America Team. She joins 1996 Olympian and 2016 Brown Athletics Hall of Famer Kristina Farrar Stookey '91 and two-time Volvo Ocean Racer Charlie Enright '08. Megan has sailed A-division at Women's Nationals all four of her years at Brown and finished 2nd overall in 2016 and 3rd in 2015. She had another stellar year including winning A-division at the 2017 Women's National Semi-Finals in Charleston and 2nd place finishes in A-division at both the Dellenbaugh Women's Trophy at Brown and the St. Mary's Women's Interconference.

Lindsey Baab had a terrific year as well and is one of the most diverse women's skippers in college sailing. She finished 3rd at the College Sailing Women's Singlehanded National Championship and won her division at the Stu Nelson Women's Trophy at Connecticut College, the Navy Women's Fall Interconference, and the Dellenbaugh Women's Trophy at Brown. Lindsey finished 2nd in B-division at the 2016 Women's Nationals and 2nd overall.

Haley Carter '17 sailed primarily with Megan Grapengeter-Rudnick in both women's and coed competition. Her top results this year include winning A-division at 2017 Women's National Semi-finals in Charleston, a 2nd place finish in A-division at the St. Mary's Women's Interconference, 2nd place in B-division at the Owen/Mosbacher Trophies at Yale, 2nd place at the Duplin Women's Team Race at Tufts, and 3rd in A-division at the Dellenbaugh Women's Trophy at Brown.
