ALUM NEWS - CLASS OF '93
News from 1999-2000 -
Laine Shapiro
i was one of the founders of disco inferno (along with
katie yezzi and a few others -- katie and i named the team) and i am so
happy that brown women's ultimate is still going strong. i am currently
living in new york city, writing. i write screenplays (feature films) and
act for my passion and write freelance stuff (online copy, primarily) for
my rent. there's a lot of detail behind that, but i'll spare you. i'm
looking forward to receiving the newsletter (please send to 75 east end
avenue #19F nyc, ny 10028). you are doing a great service for brown
women's ultimate; thank you. i just saw katie yezzi -- she's living in sf
and played on a winter league team with anna wonder. katie is an english
teacher and just became head of her department. liz cotrell and i play for
ambush -- the new york women's team (which is looking to recruit, for all
young players out there! consider new york when you graduate, or even for
the summer league; it kicks ass. anyway, the west coast is totally
overrated.) leah lubin, disco '92, also plays for ambush and is currently
in guatemala doing a volunteer project. that's all i know for now. i look
forward to hearing from everyone! heyyy, anyone interested in sending a
brown women's reunion team to april fool's this spring???
Katie Yezzi
Hi - Katie Yezzi here. I know Laine gave you some info, but
I thought I'd send in as well. I am playing with a co-ed team: Shut-up and
Kiss Me, as well as playing winter league in SF. I see Brown Ulti people
all the time - Brett Evans, Anna Wonder, Carter, Will, etc. I ran into
Joanna Power and Xana Huff (two of the other founding members of Disco) at
Regionals last fall - they are both in Seattle, doing well. I am a teacher
in a public school (if anyone wants a job - let me know), and I am
enjoying teaching. That's all for now!
