Dear Disco and Hot Flashes, Last weekend Shelley Ratay, Shana Cook, Becca
Center and I all played together for RUMP, a mixed bag quasi-boston based
fools-reunion-team team at FOOLS FEST 2001. It was a fabulous weekend
even though the weather was not very agreeable. After playing in the finals
last year it was a disappointment to finish 5th (two other teams in our
pool played each other in the finals...go figure that seeding!) in a fun
game against Stella from Canada. Rebecca and I drove together from NYC,
where we play with Ambush, and on the way back Andrew Schwartz's car (which
we were driving) broke down just outside of D.C. Becca is starting a new
placement this week in her fellowship so we had to abandon the car and
take a greyhound bus home! Let's just say it was a bonding experience.
I also saw Cynthia Lake at Fools whom some of you older gals might remember
-- the lacrosse star who often graced our practices and tournaments with
her fiery red hair and fiery play. She will be attending Denni Edlund's
wedding this May! (Denni was a rock-star soccer convert who played deep
like a banshee!) Does anyone know how to get in touch with Denni? I told
Cynthia to check out the web page and get in touch.

Dear Disco Inferno Babes, Present and Past:
I am thrilled to give you all an update on my life as it means that I can stop working on my master's thesis which is due February 14th. I suppose that, sadly, my life can be summed up as of late by that first sentence. I am still in a PhD program at Columbia University in geochemistry and working furiously at it. I am happy to report my continued partnership with David Stevenson (formerly of Brownian Motion) and we live happily together in Harlem - a-hem! I mean "the upper west side." I still play aton of disc in club season with Ambush (NYC women) where I join other disco alums Laine Shapiro and Leah Lubin. Last year we had a great season of fun and friendship and I encourage all of you current, recently graduated, and, well, old! players to come on down to the fabulously exciting (and very lucrative if job-hunting) New York City and join your disco brethren. I'd like to report recent New Year's festivities which included our very own Shana Cook and other ultimate buddies (not disco however) Nurit and Anouk of Rutgers and Frida of Ambush. Pictures of the weekend long event can be found on Frida's web site at http://www.nyct.net/~frida/album/engnewYears.html. They are worth checking out. Mara - I baby-sat for your sis's kids last weekend! They are so cute "auntie mara!" Future events include: playing at fools with Shell-dog, Shana, Nurit, Anouk, and Frida (along with many others), a trip to France after my master's defense (which is actually work-related and therefore not a vacation...but I am not complaining), and finally a trip to Japan this summer where Dave's little bro is living. I welcome all visitors: 524 W 122nd Apt 5D New York, NY 10027 212-864-5059
P.S. special hello to disco class of '97!

Hi! I'm now in my 2nd year of med school at Case Western Reserve
University in Cleveland. I've been playing some ultimate with the Case
undergrad team and with the very low key club scene here: either
Clevedge (the womens team, go figure) or just co-ed pick up. I'm still
with my boyfirend Judd even though he's living in Tulsa. I got him
playing ultimate out there when I lived there for a year (97-98), and I
was one of three women on the Tulsa team at the time, now there is one
woman. Thats about it. Looking forward to the newsletter.
