I'm now a lowly grad student spending half my time at MIT and the other half at Woods Hole on Cape Cod (but most recently I sailed on a research cruise in the South Pacifc between Fiji and New Zealand!) No ultimate lately, but hopefully I'll start with some pick up as soon as the snow melts.

Are the fields open? That seems to be one of the most-often asked questions I've heard in the last few weeks. I'm still playing, but these folks on the west coast close the fields when it rains! (Of course, that keeps them actually green most of the year, but that's a seperate matter...) I'm playing winter league, which we have instead of summer league, and see quite folks from Brown on the fields. The club season will pick up again soon, and in the mean time there's been some beach ultimate. I drove down to Los Angeles two weekends ago with a crew of folks for a coed beach tourney. We did very well (I even layed out for a BUNCH of discs!), until the semi-finals when Susan Schoeffer's team of local ringers blew past us to clean up in the finals. Beyond that, I'm loving my job this year much more than last year. I work for a school reform non-profit and spend most of my time in a K-8 school in Redwood City working with the upper grade literacy resource teacher. This job will end June 10th, and the plan is to teach 4th or 5th grade here next year. Credential? This is California... It's been great to have visitors (yeah, Kate and John!), and I'm looking forward to seeing Disco and Brownian Motion when they're in town to beat Stanford.
Last thing: I have a vision. You, me, Disco past and present... in Hawaii! I'm heading to the Kaimana tournament on Oahu in two weeks, and would love to do the same again next year with a Brown Renuion team. This will be my first year, and I've heard that it's one of the most awesome tourneys ever: camping across from the fields, all right near the beach, great surfing near by, tons of fun folks, and US! Let me know if you're interested--I'd love to get a team together. Carterg123@earthlink.net or 415-661-7066
Take good care, Carter

It's been amazing to play with Shana Cook '99 and Disco Inferno coach Lori Parham on Boston's Lady Godiva for the past two years. Shana is also a wonderful housemate --we've been living together in Somerville. I see Betsy Stubblefield, Carter Graham, and Liz Cottrell once in a while, and ran into Susan Schofer, my weightlifting buddy back at Brown, briefly at club nationals in San Diego. I recently left my environmental consulting job in Cambridge for a position at Conservation International in DC, where I'll start working in late March. In the meantime, I'll be in Guatemala studying Spanish for a month. Maybe I'll run into Leah! are there any Disco alums in DC??

I'm working for the HIV Education Prison Project at Brown, doing my best to nail my pre-med classes so that someday I might be able to use my MD as a "sledge-hammer" to set this world straight (I quote my current boss). It's a great job, and it's wonderful to still be in Providence with my support network and a little bit of ultimate. I'm helping out with Disco and hoping to make a club team this summer. I hope to see everyone at Fool's! Lets have the alumnae reunion at college nationals!
