Fall 2002 News

Disco Inferno celebrated the end of an incredibly successful fall season with the annual coed 3-on-3 tournament and one last party complete with thank you presents and a white elephant gift giving session. Some highlights were the fantastic superhero capes given to Rebecca Simon and Emily Bubbers for helping to run practices this fall, and a red Disco nalgene housing a tournament survival kit (spare finger included). A big thank you to everyone who helped out this fall, and to everyone who came out and/or supported us, either by learning and playing, or by being there in spirit, wishing us well, offering congratulations, and sending generous donations. We couldn't have done it without you. Thank you, also, to Ted, our wonderful coach, for a fall even better than the last. We can't wait until the spring!

Disco flew to Georgia this weekend for Classic City Classic. After nearly having the tournament cancelled Saturday, playing in cold, rainy, windy conditions, getting kicked off fields at a local park, Disco went 3-0 in their pool and breezed (literally!) through the championship bracket, bringing home the title and an excessively large trophy. Congratulations to Disco Inferno for battling through gale force winds and quagmire fields and for making their flight home on time!

Huck a Hunk went off with a few hitches, but it was a great weekend for all the Brown teams. Both Calvins and Hobbeses went 1-3 the first day, and both advanced to the quarters, finishing 6th and 5th overall. Everyone played hard and made great plays, and, most importantly, learned a tremendous amount while having fun. Thanks for a great season, Disco!
Congratulations to the Brown Alum for winning the women's division, and to B-Mo for winning the men's division!

what a weekend for Disco!! Disco Inferno took a strong team to Purple Valley at Williams this weekend and came together with incredible, intense D, and O that just got chillier as the tournament progressed. With decisive wins over Dartmouth, Harvard, Tufts, and Cornell, a tougher one over Williams, and a marathon 17-15 victory over Yale in the finals, Disco showed that we have the juice, we have the fire, and holy mother do we have the f*ckin' desire!!!

The future of Disco Inferno proved strong at the New England Fall College Challenge (NEFCC) this past weekend, going 3-1 on Saturday. Down to 9 players in miserable weather, Disco didn't fare as well on Sunday, but the tournament was a great building experience for the team.
Also this weekend, the co-ed Brown team "Brownie Inferno"/"D-Mo" went 1-4 in some hard fought games at Clambake. This was only the second time B-Mo and Disco banded together for a tournament (the first being Dead Monkey at Spring Break in 2001). Never having practiced together before the tournament, D-Mo left Clambake exhilirated and determined to bring the ruckus in coming years.
