Who is this mysterious spleenfan? Even we on the team do not know... although we know it must be someone from Disco Inferno past or present (<cough> RV <cough>). May the true culprit step out and lay our idle speculation to rest!]

Dear on-line Ultimate community,

The Disco Inferno Callahan Committee is pleased to present you with the nomination of collegiate America's little darling of Ultimate Pauline Lauterbach for Callahan this year. This nomination is a result of a committee meeting yesterday where all members showed up with Pauline's name tattooed on their chests.

Pauline has turned Disco Inferno from a good team into a great team. Her dedication to ultimate is magnetic, and we are all iron filings. Her defense goes from 5'4 to 7'0 in .5 seconds. Her offense is smart and cool. She can change a game even from the sideline, with her incredible decisions and love of her team.

Pauline, yes, Pauline. If you've seen her play, you've wished you were playing with her. If you've played with her, you've wished to play with her more. If you don't know who she is, I will come to your house and show you the Lauterbachumentary I made this morning as I reveled in writing this post.

More to come,
Lauterbach for Callahan '02

From the Disco Inferno news bureau:

Overheard on a grab by Pauline from a small child on the Middlebury sideline of Brown's first game at Yale Cup, "Dad, is that girl from the Matrix?"

Well, little Johnny, though we can't account for Pauline's existential views, and we always stop the party a little shy of seeing if she can actually dodge bullets, I would say Pauline is Keanu's top Callahan choice.

This season Pauline has switched roles from a power cutter to a handler and every tournament she shows us what a fit that position is. She tells us her goals before games and then goes out and proves them on the feild, still racing up the learning curve even as a top player. She had great deep throws this weekend, leading Disco to get dirty and ho more than they ever have. She brings ultimate up, both for her team and the team we are playing. Thanks for a great weekend, Spleeny, I am sure the skin will come back someday.

SNUGGLES (aka KEANU'S TOP CALLAHAN CHOICE)

You'll know Pauline Lauterbach
when she gets that hand block
and then hucks it long
just to make your team walk.
The shortest deep threat you ever did see
you know she'll sky you, on O and D.

And if you didn't know it
then Disco's here to show it.

With respect and grit we'll bring the competition
with Pauline heading the expedition.
A leader fierce and full of spirit
she will get that disc,
even if she ain't nowhere near it.
You think I exaggerate for poetic reasons
but check that yourself if you get a chance to meet us
And if you do,
just look to number three,
crazy, perhaps, but makes the game look Easy.
But hidden with that natural genius,
is a work ethic that makes all others look fiendish.
A sideline voice bigger than those black shorts
Pauline is Disco's off-field force.
A teacher and mentor with heart and energy
she leads by example, just wait and see.

Pauline for Callahan, for sure
She bleeds Ultimate and
embodies all that it looks for.
Just ask yourself, "well, why not?
She's one of the best the game's got"
This statement is true,
for both play and attitude
and she's got my love, respect, and gratitude.

You may have heard it before, from her teammates and from those not on Disco, but once again, I just gotta say it straight up yall, Pauline is the choice for Callahan. So, even if you don't like the rhymes, consider their content. There are amazing players on every team, and all the Callahan nominees deserve recognition, but Pauline is the one, for all the right reasons. She'll break your best marker, she'll sky your deep, she'll be the loudest sideline you ever did meet, she'll tell you her goal before the game and then execute, and the whole time she'll give you the same respect and love she gives her teammates. You know you either want her to be on your team or the team you are playing, because, simply put, Pauline makes ultimate great.
