We discuss some of the consequences of impact processes on asteroids, using fundamental laboratory experiments, scaling theories, and large scale computations. Impact processes are ubiquitous in the solar system, and are likely to have played a major role in the development of the small bodies in the asteroid belt as well as the near-Earth asteroids (NEAs). Some consequences include modulation of the asteroid size distribution and the development of substantial porosity on these bodies.
