Stem Cells

Various tissues in the body become damaged, be it through natural causes or otherwise. For years, scientists have been searching for ways to regenerate lost or damaged tissues in the body. For a long time, surgery was the preferred techinique to restore lost or damaged tissue(3). However, scientists have recently been embarking on experiments to prove that stem cells (which the body contains naturally) can be fundamental in restoring lost or damaged body tissue. Most of these experiments are performed in mice and have resulted in astounding success. (Note: this is not a page about embryonic stem cells. The focus of this page is on Adult stem cells)
