Integrins

From "Molecular Biology of the Cell", Alberts, Bray, et. al.

Integrins are adhesion molecules involved in development. They are a family of attachment proteins that bind specific motifs of the ECM molecules. Integrins mediate attachment to and migration over the substrates fibronectin and laminin. They act as receptors for molecules of the extracellular matrix, which they can use to mediate adhesion between a cell and its substratum.
