What experiences were you able to gain in
biotechnology during your undergraduate years at Brown?
I had a REU (Research Experience for
Undergraduates) sponsored by the National Science Foundation through CAMR
(Center for Advanced Materials Resarch). I worked in Michael Lysaght’s
lab working on a live drug delivery system. I continued this research
through the course of my senior year.
What advice do you have for
undergraduates seeking summer positions?
Look EARLY especially
if you want to work in a lab. Make sure that if you work in a lab you
like the research.
What are your plans
for next year?
I
am going to be a Business Analyst at Accenture in their Health Care and
Life Sciences group.
Which graduate
schools did you apply to?
I
applied to Northwestern Masters in Biotechnology Program and UCSD’s
Masters in Bioengineering.
What resources did
you use to find job opportunities?
I networked with
friends and family and used e-recruiting on the Career Services website
What advice do you
have for undergraduates applying for jobs after graduation?
Don’t get discouraged
by the massive amounts of declinations you will get from companies. Don’t
take rejections personally, and think “their loss.”
