- Red meat and saturated fat are associated with cancers of the colon and rectum.
- Studies have also shown that high intake of salt can lead to cancer of the stomach.
- Diets lacking in vegetables and fruits can be a significant contributor to many cancers.
- Green vegetables contain chloropyll which contain anti-oxidants, believed to neutralize
free radicals, a factor in the development of cancers.
- Alcoholic beverages have been estimated to contribute to approximately 3% of cancer
deaths. Alcohol, nicotine and other drugs may be promoters of cancer by altering hormone
levels.
- Increase consumption of yellow, orange and dark green vegetables and fruits. They are
high in beta-carotene which is a strong anti-carcinogen.
- Garlic and onions contain a chemical called diallyl disulfide which has been found to
prevent cancer.
