Welcome to our site! We are undergraduate students at Brown University, enrolled in the class Development of Vaccines to Infectious Diseases. This web page provides an overview of three important types of immune evasion strategies utilized by various pathogens. Each section contains a description of the targeted arm of the immune system as well as specific examples of exploitative organisms. We have also included a detailed study of one microbe, cytomegalovirus. This virus offers a unique opportunity for studying immune modulation because it exploits the immune system in each of the ways explored on this web page.
