Treatment - Therapy and Pregnancy

Fluoroquinolones are not recommended for use during pregnancy because they are linked to arthropathy in adolescent animals and children. The tetracycline class of antibiotics has been associated with toxic effects in the pregnant woman's liver and retarded skeletal growth of the fetus. Breast feeding mothers must also realize that ciprofloxacin, penicillin, and doxycycline are all excreted in breast milk (6).
