The Hallet Prevention Initiative was begun in 1998 to improve information systems in order to enhance the delivery of preventative care services at Hasbro Childrenís Hospital (HCH)/ Rhode Island Hospital (RIH). Its specific goals are aimed at developing computerized tracking systems that will allow us to 1) find children who are inadequately immunized and utilize outreach programs to bring them in for preventative care, 2) calculate immunization rates, 3) make childrenís immunization histories more readily available to physicians throughout HCH/ RIH, and 4) incorporate other preventative care services, for instance, screening for lead poisoning. The Hallet Prevention Initiative is a project of the Pediatric Health Services Research Group in the Division of Ambulatory Pediatrics at Brown University/ RIH, and is funded by the Hallet Trust.

The research being done to improve information systems to enhance delivery of preventative services is mainly focused on preschool kids.
