Where to Observe the Animals: Some suggestions


I. Spots on campus

  • Lincoln field bird feeder
  • Pembroke Campus
  • Behind the Math Department building
  • Main Green
  • Urban Environmental Lab garden

*You may watch pets, but not for more than a third of you observations


II. Spots off-campus within walking distance

  • Woods around Moses Brown School
  • Kennedy Plaza
  • Brown crew house area

III. Spots off-campus within short driving/biking distance

South of Campus
East of Campus:
  • Turner Reservoir (East Providence -- Rumford)
  • Woods near Wheeler School athletic fields (Wheeler School Farm) Seekonk -- nice trail through pine woods, access to swamp, power line and pond. Lots of wildlife if you are patient.
  • Caratunk Wildlife Refuge (Seekonk) -- R.I. Audubon Property so there is a small admission fee. Miles of trails through fields and woods plus ponds and a stream.
  • East Bay Bike Path -- It takes a lot of time to get there, but there are places to watch waterbirds.
