Arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy (ACM)

 

 

This trichrome-stained section of the right ventricle is from a teen-aged boy who died suddenly after physical exertion.  He was

of Italian extraction but had no family history of sudden death. The myocardium in this area is almost entirely replaced by fat.
