Alpha thalassemia (Hemoglobin Bart's)
This macerated, hydropic male stillborn with ambiguous genitalia was the product of the mother
with HbH disease referred to in the previous slide. He was delivered at 32 weeks gestation. He
was severely anemic with prominent erythroblastosis. The placenta was also hydropic (right photo).
