Alpha-1-antitrypsin deficiency

Demonstration of diastase resistant, PAS-positive globules of alpha1 antitrypsin in hepatocytes in a case of

alpha1-antitrypsin deficiency. As in this case, the findings are usually most prominent in the peripheral portion

of the lobules. The abnormally folded, polymerized polypeptide has been retained in the endoplasmic reticulum.
