Gaucher disease
The splenic red pulp is expanded with macrophages bloated with glucocerebrosides. White pulp can
still be recognized. Engorged tissue macrophages are seen in many organs in these cases.
This group of autosomal recessive diseases is due to mutations in the glucocerebroside gene.
