Juxtaglomerular apparatus

In this kidney of a 2 year old child one sees the apposition of the macula densa of the distal convoluted tubule

(dct) to the glomerular cells in the wall of the afferent arteriole (asterisk in lumen) to form the juxtaglomerular

apparatus. Also note the proximal convoluted tubule (pct) with its distinctive brush border.
