Metanephros (7 weeks, DA)
With successful apposition of the ureteral bud and metanephric mesoderm the metanephros
(definitive kidney) is formed during embryonal life. Note early glomerular formation. During the rest of embryonal
and fetal life up to about 34 weeks layers of glomeruli are formed with the first-formed being most central.
