Atlantic Mills

The original Atlantics was built as a worsted mill in 1863. It boasted three stories, a pier-and-spandrel structure, and a intricate round, domed tower. Over the years, as the needs of the company changed, additions were added on, including another domed tower (1882), and several more three and four-story mills, as well as residential buildings. The orignial Atlantic Delaine company was replaced in 1903 by the A.D. Juilliard company which occupied the space for another fifty years. Currently, on warm days markets and booths create bustling markets outside of Atlantic Mills; however, despite action outside, and in the spaces that current retail, studio, and manufactering companies occupy, there are sill many vacancies.
