Russell Warren: Overview
Born in Tiverton, RI, Warren is known as both an accomplished architect and engineer. As an architect he is known best for his work in both the Federal and Classical revival styles. Around 1800 Warren was located in Bristol , RI where he designed mansions for the powerful DeWolf family and other local merchants. In Providence Warren was associated with the firm of William Tallman and James Bucklin, whom he collaborated with on the design for the Arcade (1828). In 1935-36 Warren worked in New York with Alexander Jackson Davis, where he met architect Ithiel Town . During his career Warren designed a number of buildings in addition to the Arcade, including churches, banks, public buildings, schools, libraries, and houses in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Charleston, Savannah, and New York. |
