Brown's First Annual African Film Festival brings to Providence the latest and greatest in cinema from around the continent.

Eighteen screenings will be held over five days, from April 14-18 2004, at the Cable Car Cinema, 204 South Main Street, Providence. (401)272-3970

Sixteen films from twelve African nations will be shown: Egypt, Morocco/Tunisia, Guinea Bissau, Congo-Kinshasa, Benin, Guinea, Burkina Faso/France, South Africa, Cameroon, Senegal, Tanzania, Ivory Coast

Related events will include a retrospective of distinguished filmmaker Flora Gomes (Guinea Bissau), director talks, discussions with film scholars Olivier Barlet (France) and Claire Andrade-Watkins (Emerson), panels, presentations and more.

Tickets are available for advance purchase at 11:00 am on the day each film will be screened. Festival passes will be available for sale starting Sunday April 11.
