Graduate Handbook
Introduction
These "Procedures" are designed to present a clear set of guidelines for the Graduate Program in American Civilization. They should be consulted by all graduate students in planning their programs, by any faculty members who work with American Civilization graduate students in the preparation of their fields and by directors and readers of doctoral theses.
Students and faculty in the Program should feel free to consult with the Graduate Advisor or with the Department Chair at any time regarding interpretations of these procedures. Exceptions to these procedures or interpretations of ambiguous aspects must be made by the Faculty (usually under petition by the student concerned). As stated under paragraph IV of the Procedures, they will remain in effect until such time as they are rescinded or amended by the Faculty. It is hoped that the establishment of these procedures will be helpful to everyone concerned.
