Welcome to New Assistant Professor Uriel Cohen Priva

We are pleased to welcome Uriel Cohen Priva (Ph.D., Stanford University, 2012) to our faculty as an Assistant Professor starting in 2012-2013! Dr. Cohen Priva's research is in phonological theory, and its relation to information theory using methods from computational and corpus linguistics (among others). His research attempts to understand the way communicative, physical, and psychological pressures affect linguistic performance, competence and change. He focuses on the way information theoretic factors are integrated into language, and the effect they have on phonetics, phonology, sound change, and phonotactics.
