Scott AnderBois earned his PhD from the Dept. of Linguistics at UC Santa Cruz in 2011. After holding positions at the University of Connecticut and University of Rochester, he joined the Brown CLPS faculty in 2013. His research explores issues in semantics, pragmatics, and their interfaces through a variety of methods including primary fieldwork on Yucatec Maya (an indigenous language of Mexico). Specifically, AnderBois's research focuses largely on exploring the various ways in which speakers raise and resolve issues, and keep track of information and its sources both within sentences and in discourse.
