Couch Room Library
Located on the top floor of Macfarlane House, the Herbert Newell Couch Library in Classical Philology was established in 1959. The Library, which is independent of the holdings of the Brown library system, now contains over 4,000 volumes and is accessible to classics students and faculty twenty-four hours a day. A searchable catalogue of the volumes in the Couch Room Library is available on-line.
In addition to being part of the Interlibrary Loan Consortium, Brown also participates in the Boston Library Consortium (which includes on-site borrowing privileges), IN-RHODE, and Borrow Direct, a partnership between Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, University of Pennsylvania, Princeton and Yale that provides access within days to a collection of over 100 million volumes, and the

Computer Resources
Graduate Students have use of a dedicated computer lab (containing PCs (Windows XP) and Macs (a mix of OS 9.2 and 10.3), a scanner, and laser printer) on the first floor of Macfarlane House and several computers in the Graduate Student Lounge and Offices in the basement of Macfarlane House.
