Classics Department Undergraduate Group (DUG)
The Classics DUG invites you to the annual Latin Carol Celebration on Monday, December 5th. We will be having a DUG reception with free desserts and hot drinks at 7PM in the basement of the First Baptist Meeting House (75 North Main Street). Then, we will head upstairs for the main event--the Carol Celebration itself is a unique Brown tradition, and includes speeches, readings, and songs in Latin and Greek. It is also very well-attended, and should be a great chance to take a break from studying and catch up with other Classics students.
The Classics DUG is an organization for Brown undergraduate students who are interested in the Classics. One of the major goals of the DUG is to facilitate interactions between students and professors, and to help students learn more about the department. The DUG will hold a variety of activities (upcoming events), ranging from department mixers to informational panels. Our ideas include:
- Department reception for faculty and interested students
- Lectures
- Trips to the MFA to look at Classical Art
- Latin tutoring
- Informational panels about studying abroad and applying to graduate school
- Thesis workshops and readings
The Classics DUG is a new organization, and we welcome your feedback and involvement. If you would like to be added to our email list, want to help organize the DUG, or have any questions, please email Morgan Palmer.
Our faculty sponsor is Professor Joseph Pucci, who is also the Classics Concentration advisor.
