Constitution for the Classics DUG

I. Statement of Purpose. The Classics DUG shall exist to facilitate interaction between concentrators in the Classics department, facilitate interaction between professors and students in the Classics department, provide information for potential concentrators, and further connections to concentrators and alumni of the Classics department.

II. Membership. Eligibility to the Classics DUG is open to all full-time undergraduate members of the Brown community and does not discriminate on the basis of sex, race, color, religion, handicap, status as a veteran, sexual orientation, or national or ethnic origin. Majority membership consists of full-time undergraduate Brown students, specifically concentrators or potential concentrators in the Classics department.

III. Officers. The officers of the Classics Club shall be one or more coordinator(s). The coordinator(s) will be responsible for organizing and conducting meetings of the members and for coordinating group business. The coordinators will also work with the Undergraduate Council of Students Academic and Administrative Affairs Committee to responsibly manage the Classics DUG and to acquire University funding. In April of each year, the coordinator(s), in conjunction with the faculty advisor, will select new or additional coordinator(s) if necessary.

IV. Finances. The UCS Academic and Administrative Affairs (AAA) Committee will serve as the financial advisor to the Classics DUG, and the AAA committee will facilitate the acquisition of funds from the Dean of the College and the Classics Department.

V. Advisor. Professor Joseph Pucci shall serve as the official advisor to the Classics DUG.

VI. Amendments. Amendments may be made to the constitution by a 2/3 majority vote. When an amendment is proposed, the coordinators will make it known to the members, so that they may be present for the voting.

VI. Member Signatures. We, the undersigned, attest to the validity of the above information and that we are members in good standing of the Classics DUG.
