Why Donate? Who can donate? How to donate

YOUR GENEROSITY IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY

The decision to donate one’s brain to medical research is a very personal one. Donors are motivated by any number of factors, such as personal experience with a close relative who suffered with Alzheimer’s Disease, or a desire to aid medical research. The Brown BTRC is dedicated not only to honor its enrollees' initial desire to donate, but to provide the information required for nurturing and sustaining this truly altruistic act.

Many doctors in this community who are not directly involved in research, are still very much dedicated to developing an efficient brain donor program. Geriatricians, primary care doctors, neurologists, and social workers, in cooperation with area nursing homes, identify potential new donors while assuring that the wishes of established donors are honored. Accordingly, if your care is ever transferred to another provider, the new doctor is made aware of your wishes concerning brain donation.
