Who Can Donate?

  • Anyone over the age of 18 (no one is too old)
  • Anyone with a diagnosis of Alzheimer's Disease or Down's Syndrome
  • A donor with any brain disease is accepted
  • Anyone with a family history of Alzheimer's Disease
  • Individuals without brain disease are also needed (normal controls)

The Cost

The Brown Brain Tissue Resource Center is a not-for-profit facility under the auspices of the Brown University Medical School and partially funded from government research grants. Expenses include: transport, the brain autopsy and pathologist’s report. The donor (or family) is not formally charged. However, donations are very much appreciated. The minimum suggested amount is $200, and is allocated only to defray expenses. No one is turned away due to inability to pay.
