The Chairman of the Department of Diagnostic Imaging at Brown Medical School is based at Rhode Island Hospital and the Chairman of Diagnostic Imaging at Women and Infants' Hospital is a department member. The majority of students from Brown Medical School rotate through Rhode Island, Women and Infants' and Hasbro Children's Hospitals for clinical clerkships and electives.

Introductory level elective courses in radiology and advanced electives in cross-sectional imaging and vascular and interventional radiology are offered to third and fourth year medical students through the Department of Diagnostic Imaging. Collaborative research in basic science, clinical medicine, and healthcare management is conducted with other graduate level departments and with the basic science faculty at Brown Medical School.
