Living in Providence

The capital of Rhode Island and the second largest city in New England, Providence offers all the amenities of a modern, mid-sized city. Situated at the northern extremity of Narragansett Bay, Providence is a hub of commercial, cultural and recreational activities. Theaters, museums, concerts and outstanding dining are all available in Providence, a city the New York Times has called "the best kept secret in New England" and that Money Magazine named "the best place to live on the east coast". Its collection of historic architecture is one of the finest in America and is featured each year in a nationally acclaimed Festival of Historic Houses. Providence Place Mall offers premier shopping along Providence skyline 1the Providence waterfront.

Rhode Island's four hundred miles of coastline are easily accessible from Providence. Short excursions to the offshore resorts of Block Island, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket are popular diversions. Skiing and other winter sports are available throughout New England. Express rail service to Boston and New York allows for easy travel to these destinations.
